How Your Dues Are Allocated

IAFF

In order to be an affiliate of the IAFF, the Local pays into the IAFF. That specific dollar amount is based on the total number of members we have in the Local. On average we pay around $450 dollars a month. This gives us access to the immense IAFF resources, should a major labor issue occur between the Local and our departments.

Approximately $15.10 of your monthly dues is pays into this.

OSFFC

Local 5169 maintains membership with the Oregon State Firefighter's Council. That specific dollar amount is based on the total number of members we have in the Local. On average, we pay $380 a month. This gives us access to very experienced union members that specialized in the labor issues of Oregon. Our Local is represented under District 2 of the OSFFC. Membership with the OSFFC allows us a direct path to help institute change at the State level. Membership also gives us access to the the resources of the OSFFC, allowing us to request them should we ever need them.

Approximately $11.90 of your monthly dues pays into this.

General Fund

This fund is the main body of money that the Local collects through union dues. All bills are paid out of the General Fund. All apparel, on-duty and off-duty, are purchased out of this fund. This money is also allocated to be spent on anything the Local desires. This money can also be transferred to any other account should it become too low or a specific expense requires it. If you have ideas on what you think the Local would be interested in, please bring it up at the next meeting!

Legal Fund

This fund is where the Local pulls money from on legal expenses. The Local maintains a labor lawyer on retainer, Tedesco Law Group currently. The law office provides legal guidance for the Local and its members in regards to labor dispute issues:

Donation Fund

This fund is where the Local primarily pulls from when the body selects a group it wishes to donate to. The Local has historically donated to:

Lincoln City Youth Sports
Nestucca Valley Youth Sports
Lincoln City Parks and Recreation

The Local also donated a paver to the Schooner Creek Discovery Park in Lincoln City.

Approximately $12.80 of your monthly dues pays into this.

Sticker Fund

This fund is where the Local pulls from when we purchase stickers for our members. Currently, the Local has members pay for stickers at a lower rate than they could purchase them for through other vendors. The funds of those stickers purchased go back into this fund.

The ultimate goal of this fund is to purchase enough stickers that they will be free to all members in any quantity they want.
